AFRICA is NOT a COUNTRY!!! Let's talk about these "Malaria Bed-Nets"

I know this note is a little all-over-the-place but with World Malaria Day (April 25th) just a few hours away and all the press WHO and UN are getting for their 'targets' with the whole bed net thing... I just had to rant!

"Mosquito net" Campaigners talk about the net and that for £5 you can provide a bed net for an African as if all the whole continent needs is to get under one and live happily ever after. Well I hate to be the skeptic that says it over and over again... but hundreds of millions won't!
Malaria or no Malaria people from countries in Africa do not have to spend half their lives in bed, under a net.

Bed nets do not solve the problem and it's a rather tacky lie to say they do.It is in fact sickening that these campaigns still insist on treating the African continent like a group of little children. We all know that the only product to ever really combat the mosquitoes is the banned DDT.

World Malaria Day mocks the continent with the whole bed net project... by the way, who is making these nets and how many billions of dollars are they raking in in profits?

Please excuse my language but since there is no decent word or phrase in the 'proper' language books to describe this I had to borrow from the streets and say this:

"The Bed-Net project is a backside f**k for Africa... and No, I don't mean the country... I mean the Continent."

If campaigners were serious about the eradication of malaria, pesticides would be number one on the agenda.

One more thing, can someone please tell the 'Western' media that Africa is a continent and not one big safari? Its 2009 for goodness sake! How can they still be this daft about the facts?
